Bastrop's Smoked Love reopens Aug. 31 with new staff, menu

Thomas Witte, owner of Smoked Love, will reopen his charitable, nontraditional barbecue food truck at 11:30 a.m. on Aug. 31.

Two-minute impact

After closing around six weeks ago to recover from hand surgery, Witte said he is excited to reopen with a new menu and some new staff members.

Witte will offer a limited specialty menu at the reopening event, including:

• Bacon-weaved smoked and stuffed Wagyu meatloaf
• Loaded mashed potatoes
• Cheddar-jalapeno cornbread muffins, in collaboration with another local food truck called Cutie Pie Wagon
• Slow-smoked prime brisket
• Smoked and stuffed burgers
• Slow-smoked turkey breast

Nestled inside the Chestnut Grove Food Court, 710 Chestnut St., Bastrop, the Smoked Love team serves barbecue with a twist, including:

• Smoked deviled eggs
• Pulled pork macaroni and cheese
• Smoked tacos
• Pork belly burnt end skewers
• Pig shots—bacon-wrapped sausages stuffed with blended smoked cheese
• Chicken lollipops

What else?

"We will be introducing a new non-alcoholic beer by Go Brewing that is perfect for the fall weather that’s hopefully just around the corner," Witte posted on social media. "They have released an absolutely delicious non-alcoholic Oktoberfest that pairs perfectly with our craft barbecue."
