1. PrimeBite brings Mexican-inspired smash burgers to BastropHusband-and-wife duo Daniel and Adelita Sanchez are now serving Mexican-inspired smash burgers and other comfort food at Bastrop’s Chestnut Grove Food Truck Court. Daniel Sanchez described the menu as American with a Mexican twist—inspired by a fusion of the couple's Mexican roots with an American classic: the hamburger.

2. Bastrop Whataburger demolished ahead of $2.5M rebuild
The Bastrop Whataburger was demolished around July 13 to make way for a new $2.5 million restaurant expected to open by the end of the year. As reported by Community Impact in June, plans include a new 3,800-square-foot restaurant with updated amenities for guests and staff.

3. Kung Fu Tea to bring boba, fruit teas to Bastrop this fall
Franchise owner Stephen Thomas will offer freshly brewed, customizable milk and fruit teas, as well as the brand’s signature Wow Bubbles—a brown sugar-cooked version of regular boba, which is usually marinated in honey. Other choices will include freshly squeezed lemonades and slushes, with vegan, dairy-free and nut-free options.

4. Bastrop's Texas Roadhouse sets late July opening
Now open, diners can choose proteins like hand-cut steaks, seafood and chicken; scratch-made sides such as baked potatoes, macaroni and cheese and green beans; and the restaurant’s popular freshly baked dinner rolls served with whipped honey-cinnamon butter.

5. McDonald’s second Bastrop location to hold ribbon-cutting
Construction began in April and carries an estimated building cost of $1.5 million, according to a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing.
