St. David's acquires SignatureCare emergency centers in Southwest Austin, Pflugerville

St. David's HealthCare has acquired ownership of two SignatureCare emergency centers in Southwest Austin and Pflugerville.

The overview

The freestanding emergency centers began operating as St. David's Emergency Center locations May 1. The 24/7 centers are staffed by St. David's board-certified emergency medicine physicians and nurses trained in emergency care.

Patients can receive care for a range of conditions, including:

• abdominal pain
• chest pain
• dehydration
• difficulty breathing
• fractures and sprains
• severe burns
• stroke symptoms
• traumatic injuries

Patients may be transferred to a St. David's hospital to receive inpatient care. The centers operate as extensions of Level II trauma centers at St. David’s South Austin Medical Center and St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center, according to St. David's information.
