Paloma Dining and Events opened May 1, offering authentic Mexican food in an environment curated for family entertainment.

“It’s a fun place with casual food and very relaxing,” owner Don Lupe said of Paloma. “It's amazing to get out of the traffic of the city of Austin and [have] a unique experience in the Hill Country.”

The restaurant offers casual Mexican food, with menu items including tacos, quesadillas and enchiladas. Lupe recommends the molcajete mar y tierra, a recipe that’s been in his family for generations. The dish includes grilled shrimp wrapped in bacon, steak, pork ribs, nopales and cheese.

“We're trying to bring these authentic flavors to the Hill Country,” General Manager Maryann Rodriguez said. “We hire people from Mexico so we can try the flavors and do what it is we actually do back home.”

Paloma also has a full-service bar, with over 50 types of tequila and offerings including wine, beer, palomas, margaritas and cocktails.

The space surrounding the restaurant is capable of hosting events including weddings, rehearsal dinners, bachelor parties, family reunions and more.

“The concept for the restaurant is that families can come and let the kids run around, play on the swings, have fun while they’re having a drink or getting together with some friends,” Rodriguez said. “You can also use the place as a venue if you’re doing an event.”

Paloma has a stage for live music with space for dancing, mini golf, cornhole, a swing set and eight gardens on the property.
