Central Texas skies will darken as a total solar eclipse fills the sky on April 8 for the first time in more than 600 years, according to The University of Texas at Austin. Here are 10 spots around the Austin area to check out during the celestial event.

Aba

The Mediterranean restaurant will offer an eclipse-themed cocktail called Totality, made with blanco tequila, blackberry, cardamom, yuzu and lime. The cocktail can also be made without alcohol.

Guests can purchase tickets for the viewing party, which will include glasses and a specialty tequila sunrise cocktail, along with a commemorative poster. The Driskill’s 1886 Cafe & Bakery will be open for food and additional drinks.

Snacks will be available for purchase along with alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks.

General admission tickets for the eclipse party will include parking, eclipse glasses, entry for a themed giveaway, one cocktail and more, while listening to live music.

Bob Bryant Park

City of Bastrop officials will throw an eclipse-viewing party at the park with games, eclipse-themed music, food vendors and more, along with eclipse glasses while supplies last. Bleachers will be set up; however, attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets.
