A new upbeat neighborhood bar and a laid-back restaurant serving up American-Chinese eats will open together in the North Loop neighborhood later in April.

Yellow Ranger will serve a casual, chef-driven menu featuring rice and noodle dishes, scallion pancakes, wonton chips, and more. The Golden Horn will serve draft beer, wine, cocktails and zero-proof drinks.

Both concepts will open in the former Burger Tex space at 5420 Airport Blvd., Austin, on April 25.

Meet the owners

Yellow Ranger is led by Chef Jeremy Young, who has over a decade of restaurant experience, including at Austin spots Emmer & Rye and Ramen Tatsu-Ya. The Golden Horn is led by Marcos Canchola, who was formerly a barman at Barfly's, The Hideout, Pourhouse and Violet Crown.

Quote of note

“Our goal is to provide a comfortable, affordable and unpretentious venue for friends to hang out and be themselves,” Young said.
