Try Hard Coffee Roasters has closed its doors in East Austin.

The east side cafe and vinyl record store first opened in 2020 months after the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite making it several years after that launch, Try Hard's owners said that opening during an unstable time led them to take on too much debt and forced the business's closure this spring.

"The debt and debt repayments have snowballed, and we have been left with no choice but to let Try Hard go," they said in a social media post.

Despite the coffeehouse's closure, Try Hard is still selling some vinyls from Austin-area artists. Owners said more details about the business that's set to occupy Try Hard's space on East 11th Street are coming soon.
