Ascension Seton Hays, located at 6001 Kyle Parkway in Kyle, is increasing its cardiovascular services after opening its fourth cardiac catheterization lab, or cath lab, on April 9.

The details

A cath lab is an examination room with diagnostic imaging equipment, which allows doctors to view the arteries and chambers of the heart, and treat any abnormalities found, according to a news release.

The new cath lab also has electrophysiology, or EP, capabilities, featuring equipment that can diagnose and treat heart rhythm issues.

What they're saying

Chief Medical Officer Josh Pozos said this state-of-the-art equipment increases the hospital’s ability to diagnose and treat a range of cardiovascular diseases.

“Adding EP capabilities, alongside our skilled interventional cardiologists and heart surgery program, is a true asset to the community," Pozos said in a news release.

Josh Davis, a cardiologist who specializes in EP at Ascension Texas Cardiovascular, said the new cath lab allows Ascension Seton Hays to better serve the entire region.

"Previously, patients would have to travel out of the community to receive this level of care,” Davis said in a news release.
