The City of San Marcos approved four dedicated parking spaces—one on each corner of The Square downtown—for use during evening and overnight hours to improve public safety.
The San Marcos City Council unanimously approved designating four parking spaces for police parking only, establishing them as no-public-parking areas at a May 19 meeting, according to a news release. The city’s Parking Advisory Board also recommended approval of the initiative.

The parking spots are located at the following intersections, and are designated as tow-away zones from 5 p.m. to 3 a.m.
- North Guadalupe Street at East Hopkins Street
- East Hopkins Street at North LBJ Drive
- South LBJ Drive at East San Antonio Street
- South Guadalupe Street at West San Antonio Street
