Proposed 34-acre development could bring new housing and retail to Kyle

The current project design features two hotel sites, which would provide the city with hotel occupancy tax dollars, said Michael Linehan, president of LSI, the land planning consultant and architect representing Capland Development.

Also included in the design is an interior greenbelt, allowing pedestrians to easily travel through the development.

The details

City Council members presented a number of ideas they’d hope to be considered by the developers or see in the project’s design, including:

• A shared parking garage instead of surface parking
• The use of water conservation measures, particularly in the apartments and hotels
• Affordable coworking spaces for local business owners
• A recreation area or business
• Restaurants not currently located in Kyle

The developers will need approximately two to three months before presenting a completed development agreement, finalized PUD zoning and updated project design to the council for an official vote.

Once the property is entitled, the multiyear development process will begin.
