Johnny Flores has won the Democratic nomination for the Hays County commissioner, Precinct 2 election.
He secured 5,380 votes, or 72.6%. Bryan Escobar received 2,030 votes, or 27.4%.
Flores will run against Abby Gibson, the uncontested Republican candidate, on the November ballot.

Hays County has released early voting totals for the Democratic primary race for county commissioner, Precinct 2, between Bryan Escobar and Johnny Flores.
What you need to know
According to unofficial early voting results, Flores leads with 4,187 votes, or 72.53%. Escobar has 1,586 votes, or 27.47%.
The candidate who receives over 50% of the votes will win the Democratic position on the November ballot. If a candidate does not win at least 50% of the votes, a runoff election will be held May 26.
The winner of the Democratic primary will face Abby Gibson, the uncontested Republican candidate, in the general election.
Incumbent Michelle Gutierrez Cohen is a candidate in the Democratic primary race for county judge.

In early voting, there were 34,599 ballots cast countywide, which represents 17.9% of Hays County's 192,945 voters.
Totals from ballots cast March 3 have yet to be released. Polls opened at 7 a.m. and closed at 7 p.m.
