“That is a fantastic amenity for this complex, and it is something we'll use when we're selling it to tournament runners or businesses,” said Tony Host, city of Buda Parks and Recreation director. “I know we're not turf, but we can drain in an hour, and we can get back to playing.”
In addition to the new and refurbished fields, the project includes:
- Maintenance building: provides staff with equipment storage
- Batting cages: available for reservation during park hours
- Concession stand: food for purchase in the facility
- Parking spaces: renovation will add 800 parking spaces
Something to noteThe renovation project provides the city with full facility control for the first time, Host said. Staff will have the ability to lock the sportsplex to prevent trespassing and damage. The facility will be open from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m.
“People had destroyed some of the ball fields and things that we have, so now we have facility control,” Host said. “We can take care of our asset and keep it looking nice for the residents in the communities, people coming into town to play and people in town that play. They know they have a quality facility and a great quality-of-life amenity.”
