Kyle City Council selected Bryan Langley as the finalist for city manager at a special meeting April 14 at City Hall, located at 100 W. Center St.

The city has been without a permanent city manager since former City Manager Scott Sellers resigned in September. Assistant City Manager Jerry Hendrix has since been acting city manager since July.

Prior to the decision, the city held a meet and greet April 13 with the top four candidates—Doug Brinkley, Bryan Langley, Todd Parton and John Raymond—who were all competing for the role.

Mayor Travis Mitchell said Langley's experience showed a lot throughout the process.

"It's very clear that he's performed at a high level in the city of Burleson, and so that experience is very vital," Mitchell said. "We need a city manager who can hit the ground running with all the projects that we have going on, someone who can demonstrate a lot of leadership. And he has the leadership experience that we were looking for and also the right mentality."

City staff were directed to finalize the contract terms that were discussed, and council is expected to award the contract at its next meeting April 18 at 7 p.m. at Kyle City Hall.
