The highly anticipated Buc-ee’s location in San Marcos has set a date for its grand opening and is close to welcoming customers to its newest travel center. The store will officially open its doors Aug. 12.
The overview
The 74,707-square-foot travel center broke ground on Jan. 29, 2025. The project had an estimated construction cost of $47 million and was originally slated to open late 2025, according to a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing.
San Marcos’ Buc-ee’s location will be one of the largest in the region, according to previous Community Impact reporting. The facility falls only 886 square feet short of the world’s largest convenience store, a title currently held by the franchise’s Luling location at 75,593 square feet.
