The full story
Council approved items G.1 and G.2 on July 10, dispensing with the need for a second reading in both cases. The former is an update to plans for a multifamily housing development 0.4 miles south of Main Street in downtown Round Rock, and the latter a rezoning to allow a church to continue operating at its current location near Gattis School Road.
The details
Updates to an agreement between the developer and city for the Arte planned unit development eliminates structured parking and reduce the overall number of units, due to increased labor and construction costs, as well as decreased market demand for multifamily, said Brad Dushkin, Round Rock's planning and development services department director.
The change would leave the development with a central parking lot, rather than a parking structure, and reduces the overall number of units from 410 to 350.
The amendment includes additional changes such as reducing the building height to five stories, adding duplexes or single-family attached units as a permitted use and relocating townhomes within the development.
What's next?
While both items were originally posted as the first of two readings, council voted to dispense with the second reading of each measure, so they will not need to be brought back to council members for another vote.
