Pflugerville ISD's Hendrickson High School has been recognized in "Unified Beginnings," a documentary series released by the Special Olympics. The four-episode docuseries follows four different Unified Champions schools, or schools that unite students with and without intellectual disabilities to promote social inclusion.

Hendrickson High School was named as one of the top five schools nationally for its inclusive efforts in September 2019 by the Special Olympics and ESPN. For its efforts, the Special Olympics and ESPN recognized Hendrickson with a banner-hanging ceremony in March, and a film crew followed Hendrickson students and staff to capture the campus culture for the docuseries.

Hendrickson's Unified Champions program was built on the foundation of Class of 2020 senior Ronnie Brown's catch phrase, "I say yes," per a Sept. 22 PfISD news release. The phrase helped guide the district's inclusive efforts to unify students of all abilities on the campus.

Hendrickson's episode of "Unified Beginnings" premiered online Sept. 22.
