Following Gov. Greg Abbott's April 17 executive order, Round Rock ISD has announced extended school closures through the end of the academic year.

"In the best interest of the health and safety of our students and staff, and in accordance with direction provided by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, Round Rock ISD schools and offices will remain closed for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year," district officials said in a news release.

Students and staff have not been on campus since the start of spring break in mid-March. The extended school closures are intended to slow the spread of the coronavirus by reducing public gatherings.

The district is continuing with home-based e-learning initiatives at this time.
