The Pflugerville ISD board of trustees confirmed Ed Ramos as the district's new chief operating officer at its meeting Thursday, March 22, according to a news release distributed Tuesday.

Ramos joins PfISD after serving in Hutto ISD for the past 13 years, where he is currently serving as deputy superintendent. In the past year, Ramos served as interim superintendent—a post he also served in 2010.

Overall, Ramos has 21 years of administrative experience in public education, beginning with a role at PfISD. Ramos formerly worked at PfISD as a staff accountant from 1996-2005.

“I am excited by the opportunity to serve the students and staff of PfISD once again,” said Ramos, in the news release. “I look forward to working with the board, leadership team, and staff in ensuring that PfISD continues to be an outstanding district in the state of Texas."

PfISD superintendent Doug Killian praised the move in Tuesday's new release.

“He got his start in PfISD, and he spent the last 13 years with Hutto ISD, serving in positions of increasing responsibility. His expertise in these critical operational areas, combined with his familiarity with our district, make him an ideal fit for PfISD," Killian said.

Ramos follows Killian to PfISD from Hutto ISD, where Killian served as superintendent for seven years. Killian was brought on as PfISD superintendent in 2017.

Ramos currently serves as a board member of the Hutto Family YMCA, the Hutto Education Foundation, the Hutto Chamber of Commerce and the Hutto Rotary Club. Additionally, Ramos serves on the board for the Texas Association of School Boards Risk Management Fund.

Ramos has previously served as a director of the Central Texas Purchasing Alliance and as president of the Capital Area Texas Association of School Business officials, according to the news release.

Hutto ISD officials reacted with appreciation for Ramos' tenure at the district Tuesday night.

"Ed has served Hutto ISD for almost 13 years through some of its most challenging times. He was the rock everyone relied on during difficult financial times, the voice of reason in tumultuous situations, and the calm during the storms of growth," said Celina Estrada Thomas, superintendent of Hutto ISD. "We wish him much continued success with this career move."

PfISD announced Ramos is expected to begin working for the district April 30.
