When Dawan and Tiffany Anderson relocated from Chicago in 2016, they settled in Pflugerville to be near family. But they still felt that they missed home. So the pair—alongside their brothers, sisters, nephews and nieces—opened Bahadi’s Chicken and Lounge, a Chicago-style eatery with live entertainment in a lounge environment.

“There just weren’t a lot of places down here where we could eat food that reminds us of home,” said Travis Branch, a self-declared “jack-of-all-trades” who bartends, waits tables and cooks at Bahadi’s.

The menu includes chicken wings, shrimp, gizzards, fish, pizza, sandwiches and more. Branch said Chicago influences are infused in seasonings, batters and a house-made wing sauce.

“If you love chicken, don’t go to Popeyes; don’t go to KFC,” Branch said. “Come to Bahadi’s Chicken. You will not be disappointed.”

Food is cooked to order, Branch said. A children’s menu is available alongside appetizers, dessert and a catering menu.

“You’ll get hot chicken, hot fries,” he said. “You’ll fall in love with it.”

The restaurant doubles as a lounge, offering live entertainment. A stage near the entrance provides a platform for DJs, comedians, karaoke, live bands and swing dance lessons.

“We want this to feel like home for everybody,” Branch said. “We want people to feel comfortable in this space.”
