Manufacturing company Special Products & Mfg., Inc., announced June 18 plans to open a location in Round Rock.

SPM specializes in electromechanical assembly, precision metal fabrication, machining, welding, and powder coating. The family-owned business, founded in 1963, is headquartered in Rockwall, Texas.

“The Austin/Round Rock area makes sense strategically,” SPM President Ed Grand-Lienard said in a news release. “It allows us to provide opportunity for our customers in that region; it opens up capacity and room for growth in our Rockwall Headquarters location and will allow the SPM team members great growth potential.”

SPM has leased 28,000 square feet within Settlers Crossing Phase 2, Bldg. 3, at 900 E. Old Settlers Blvd., Round Rock.

“The expansion gives us the opportunity to serve a new community, in Round Rock, Texas, in the same ways we serve the community of Rockwall and the surrounding areas," SPM CEO Rob Grand-Lienard said.

The company plans to open the Round Rock facility in August. SPM expects to employ up to thirty employees at the new location, including engineers, operators, assemblers and machinists.

“Round Rock is the perfect hub for innovative manufacturers such as SPM,” said Jason Ball, president and CEO of the Round Rock Chamber. “We are thrilled to welcome SPM to our community.”
