One of North America’s largest manufacturers of residential and commercial lighting, Hubbell Lighting, plans to open a design facility in Round Rock.

On June 11, Round Rock City Council approved an economic incentive agreement with the company, which is headquartered in Greenville, South Carolina.

“The facility in Round Rock is very unique,” said Nichole Vance, director of business attraction for the Round Rock Chamber of Commerce. “It will be home to Hubbell’s control systems, design center and training facility.”

Hubbell’s 15,000-square-foot facility will be located at 710 Hesters Crossing Road, Round Rock, within Summit II at La Frontera.

The economic incentive agreement between the city and Hubbell is performance-based, Vance said. Hubbell must invest $1 million into facility improvements and an additional $650,000 in business and personal property, per the agreement.

In addition, Hubbell is required to create at least 50 jobs in three years with an average salary of $120,000 a year. Vance said the company already employs 15 individuals in the Austin-Round Rock Metropolitan Statistical Area. Therefore, an additional 35 positions must be employees new to the organization or relocated from outside of the MSA, she said.

The Hubbell team in Round Rock will include project engineers, software and mobile app developers and other support teams, Vance said.

If Hubbell meets the agreement, an economic development payment of $125,000 will be made 45 days from the conclusion of the third year.
