Pflugerville City Council approved over $170,000 in Winter Storm Uri-related repairs to the Scott Mentzer Pool facility during its April 27 meeting. Shane Mize, Parks and Recreation Department Director, gave a presentation during the meeting outlining the pool’s repairs along with opening dates for other city pools.

Falcon Pointe Splash Pad

The 800-square-foot splash pad suffered no damages during the winter storm and will be open May 29 through Sept. 6. Falcon Pointe is located at 1813 Tranquility Ln., Pflugerville. The park is free to the public.

Gilleland Creek Pool

Mize said the heated eight lane, 25-meter pool is open year-round. The pool was damaged by the winter storm with about $5,000 in total repairs to the pump system, he said. Gilleland Creek Pool is located at 700 N Railroad Ave, Pflugerville. Admission cost for children, seniors and military personnel is $2 for residents and $3 for non-residents. Adult admission is $3 for residents and $4.50 for non-residents.

Scott Mentzer Pool

Currently the family-style water park is inoperable after suffering significant damage from the winter storm. According to Mize’s presentation, over $54,000 is needed to repair all six pool motors, electrical panels and plumbing. In addition, over $116,000 is needed for a full replaster and tile replacement. Pflugerville City Council approved the repair costs during its April 27 meeting, and the pool is expected to open in July. Scott Mentzer Pool is located at 901 Old Austin Hutto Rd., Pflugerville. Admission cost for children, seniors and military personnel is $2 for residents and $3 for non-residents. Adult admission is $4 for residents and $6 for non-residents.

Stone Hill Splash Pad

The new splash pad added to Stone Hill Park this year will be open May 29 through Sept. 6. The 850-square-foot splash pad includes spray features along with a recirculating water system with filtration and chemical treatment, according to the presentation. Mize said Stone Hill is scheduled to have concrete etching added prior to opening to enhance soil prevention and enhance landscaping for erosion control. Stone Hill is located 1124 Town Center Dr., Pflugerville. The park is free to the public.

Windermere Pool

Windermere Pool will also be open May 29 through September 6. The five-lane, 25-yard pool has depth ranges from four to five feet and was built and previously owned by the neighborhood Home Owners Association, according to City Council's presentation. Windermere Pool is located at 16800 Gower St., Pflugerville. Admission cost for children, seniors and military personnel is $2 for residents and $3 for non-residents. Adult admission is $3 for residents and $4.50 for non-residents.
