In the next phase of water infrastructure improvements, Pflugerville will have a two-week river pump shutdown to allow for full repairs on the existing raw waterline, finalize construction of the secondary raw waterline, and conduct essential pump maintenance.

The shutdown began on May 27, and will conclude in June.
In a presentation to City Council on May 26, staff said the current water level of Lake Pflugerville was 635.3 feet as of May 25. During the shutdown, water levels will drop, but the city does not anticipate an impact on fishing or swimming. The target elevation for Lake Pflugerville is 633 feet.
The city has a usage goal of four million gallons per day, and usage has averaged 4.524 MGD.
“To be frank, the conservation efforts have been huge, and we see that,” Shelby Granger, assistant director of water operations, said. “We really haven’t seen an increase in usage as of yet.”
After maintaining 633 feet in elevation at Lake Pflugerville, the city of Pflugerville moved to modified Stage 1 water conservation measures beginning Friday, May 1 for all city of Pflugerville water customers.
Conservation remains critical to minimize the drop in lake elevation during the scheduled shutdown, and to stay within the water treatment plant’s current 8 million gallons per day capacity as construction to expand this facility continues. If daily demand exceeds 8 MGD, the city will have to revert back to Stage 3 restrictions.
