2. James Hartshorn to serve as Pflugerville's next city manager

Pflugerville city officials announced April 15 that current deputy city manager James Hartshorn will serve as the next city manager.

Per a news release, the Pflugerville City Council voted April 14 to direct the mayor to begin negotiations with Hartshorn to serve as the next city manager. Once negotiations are finalized and an agreement is approved by City Council, Hartshorn will succeed current city manager Sereniah Breland following her retirement on July 1.

3. Travis County to withhold 9% of tax rebate to Tesla for 'incomplete documentation'

Electric car manufacturer Tesla will receive less of a tax rebate than initially expected from Travis County due to “partial noncompliance” with the performance-based agreement.

Since 2020, the county has promised Tesla millions in tax incentives to build Giga Texas—a 10-million-square-foot electric car manufacturing plant near Del Valle. At an April 7 meeting, the Travis County Commissioners Court voted to withhold 9% of funds allocated for 2020-22 after receiving “incomplete documentation” from the Colorado River Project, a subsidiary company of Tesla, County Judge Andy Brown said.

4. Zydeco Development withdraws zoning request for data center in Hutto

Hutto city officials announced in a news release April 17 that Zydeco Development, an Austin-based commercial real estate development firm, has withdrawn its request to rezone a parcel of land currently designated for residential uses in order to build a data center.
