The multigenerational recreation center planned for Pflugerville's 29-acre Downtown East development may soon have programming in place.

At its Nov. 29 regular meeting, Pflugerville City Council will consider a resolution establishing general programming for the approximately 120,000-square-foot recreation center.

The item comes following an Oct. 25 discussion where consultants from Barker Rinker Seacat Architecture reported on findings from public engagement related to the recreation center.

As it appears on the agenda for the Nov. 29 meeting, the resolution would establish the following programming for the center:
  • four basketball courts;
  • leisure water facility with lap lanes;
  • large weight room;
  • indoor turf field;
  • multilevel adventure/walking track throughout the facility; and
  • support programming such as child watch, indoor playground, party rental rooms and event space.
Council last took action on Downtown East in July, when it approved an item moving the project into the developer solicitation phase.

According to city materials, developer solicitation is expected to wrap up by January, after which work will begin on full design for the project.
