Pflugerville ISD and Aramark Food Services are currently offering free breakfast and lunch through the United States Department of Agriculture's summer meals program.
What you need to know
Nine PfISD campuses are hosting the free meals program. Per a news release, any child under the age of 18 can participate in the program. Students past the age of 18, but under the age of 21 who continue to be enrolled at a school and are identified as mentally or physically disabled through special education can also participate.
Participants do not need to register or be registered in a summer school program, and will not be required to show proof of age, income or residency. Visitors are also asked to check in at each school's main office or the Extended Day Program registration desk for safety reasons.
The following campuses are participating in the program:
- Brookhollow Elementary: May 26-Aug. 7; 7:15 a.m.-7:45 a.m. (breakfast), 11:15 a.m.-11:45 a.m. (lunch)
- Caldwell Elementary: May 26-Aug. 7; 7:15 a.m.-7:45 a.m. (breakfast), 11:15 a.m.-11:45 a.m. (lunch)
- Carpenter Elementary: May 26-Aug. 7; 7:15 a.m.-7:45 a.m. (breakfast), 11:15 a.m.-11:45 a.m. (lunch)
- Dessau Elementary: June 1-25, June 29-July 9, Aug. 4-11; 7:45 a.m.-8:15 a.m. (breakfast), 12:15 p.m.-12:45 p.m. (lunch)
- Hidden Lake Elementary: May 26-Aug. 7; 7:15 a.m.-7:45 a.m. (breakfast), 11:15 a.m.-11:45 a.m. (lunch)
- Spring Hill Elementary: June 1-12, June 15-25; 8 a.m.-8:30 a.m. (breakfast), 10 a.m.-10:30 a.m. (lunch)
- Timmerman Elementary: June 1-25, Aug. 4-11; 8 a.m.-8:30 a.m. (breakfast), 10:15 a.m.-10:45 a.m. (lunch)
- Pflugerville High School: June 1-26, June 19; 8:45 a.m.-9:15 a.m. (breakfast), 10:30 a.m.-11 a.m. (lunch)
"For many children who receive free or reduced-price meals at school, summer can mean hunger," officials said in the news release. "Just as learning doesn't end when school ends, neither does a child's need for good nutrition."
