What you need to know
HISD is accepting nominations for the name of its next elementary school campus through Jan. 31. Known as Elementary No. 8, it is one of two new elementary schools approved by voters in the 2023 bond.
Those who would like to suggest a person for the school to be named after can submit their nomination through the district's online form.
Per district policy, nominations should include:
- How the nominee has contributed to HISD
- Supporting information related to the nomination
According to the district, a groundbreaking for the new facility is planned for this spring, and the campus is slated to open in time for the 2025-26 school year. It will be located adjacent to the Hutto 9th Grade Center, near Destiny Lane and FM 1660 N.
