Pflugerville City Council approved a specific use permit Aug. 26 to allow a new batting cage at Stone Hill Town Center.

The gist

The batting facility is part of the new Taroko Sports planned for the shopping center, to be located next Cowboy Fit. The cages will take up approximately 10,000 square feet

The entertainment venue offers batting and pitching cages, simulated Major League Baseball play, 5D racing simulators, arcades, and food and drinks. Its Pflugerville location will have both indoor and outdoor entertainment.

“One of the cool things about this is that one of the things we often hear about at Stone Hill is teenagers do not have a place where they can hang out and do something,” Place 4 council member Rudy Metayer said. “This gives [them] a perfect opportunity.”

The company has batting centers throughout Taiwan and plans to expand further into the U.S. The Katy location, the first in the U.S., has 10 batting cages for baseball and softball, as well as games like air hockey, darts and an arcade.

An opening date for the Pflugerville location hasn’t been released.
