The Pflugerville Chamber of Commerce announced Kristen Cepak will be the organization's new chief executive officer.

The announcement comes roughly five months after former CEO Shontel Mays stepped down July 22.

Cepak replaces interim CEO and President Janice Heath, who helmed the Pflugerville Chamber following Mays' departure, according to a Jan. 2 news release.

Chamber board chair Gwen Pyle said in the release that Cepak has already been active in increasing membership and fundraising prior to her Jan. 2 official start date.

"Cepak grew up in Hutto and has witnessed major changes that Pflugerville has undergone in the past several years, and we’re excited to have her aboard,” Pyle said in the release.

Cepak has held positions as the Executive Director of the Columbus, Texas Chamber of Commerce and the Sand Springs Chamber of Commerce in Sand Springs, Oklahoma, the release states.
