3 candidates file to run for Pflugerville ISD trustee position that has gone unchanged since 2001


Five candidates filed applications to run for places on Pflugerville ISD’s board of trustees, including three aiming to take over for Trustee Carol Fletcher, who did not filed for re-election.

Fletcher, who currently holds Place 5, has held the position since 2001. Places 3 and 4 are also up for election.

The following candidates filed applications by the Feb. 15 deadline.

Place 3

  • Renae Mitchell, incumbent

Place 4

  • Vernagene Mott, incumbent

Place 5

  • Brian Allen
  • April Griffin
  • Charlie Torres

All positions are elected at-large. Early voting takes place April 22-30, and election day is May 4.

  1. Thank goodness we’re going to get some fresh blood into that school board! Whoever on the board pushed for that multi-million dollar stadium (that is vacant most of the year, and cost more than the new school next to it) should have been voted out a long time ago. You could argue that the voters approved that stadium, but that’s not the whole story. That new stadium was forced down our throats because the same bond issue was bundled with some badly needed new schools, and voting against it would have badly hurt our kids. Every time I drive down Pecan street and see those two full-sized school stadiums on BOTH sides of the road, across the street from each other, I am reminded of this MEGA mistake by the school board.
