A strong outing from challenger Ramey Ko was not enough to defeat Travis County Treasurer Dolores Ortega Carter, who received 54.29 percent of the unofficial primary vote March 4.
Ortega Carter clinches re-election for the treasurer position because there is no Republican challenger in November. Ko attempted to unseat Ortega Carter, a Democrat who has held the position since 1987 when she became the first female Travis County treasurer.
Ko, an Austin lawyer, has spent multiple years coordinating several county and state Democratic Party initiatives. He recorded 45.71 percent of the votes.
