Unofficial election results show U.S. Rep. Lloyd Doggett won the Democratic primary race for Texas' 35th Congressional District.
Doggett, who has served in Congress since 1995, received 93.05 percent of the vote, followed by Bexar County Tax Assessor-Collector Sylvia Romo with 4.29 percent and Maria Luisa Alvarado—who ran for lieutenant governor in 2006—with 2.66 percent.
"From the Alamo to the Alamo Drafthouse, tonight's victory is a victory for Texas families," Doggett said in a statement to Community Impact Newspaper. "Rick Perry thought he could pick and choose, through his crooked map, who will serve in Washington. He forgot that the people choose their leaders. Now the work begins for November."
According to The Texas Tribune, Romo called Doggett on the evening of May 29 and conceded the race.
