The Association of Fundraising Professions of Greater Austin announced its 2013 Philanthropy Day winners Oct. 31.
AFP annually recognizes work by individuals, corporations, nonprofit groups, foundations and young adults that has improved the quality of life for Central Texans.
AFP Public Relations Chairwoman Angela Mootz said this year's process was a competitive one. The 19-member selection committee of community leaders, past winners, AFP members and others pored over the dozens of submissions the group received.
"What they really look for is how the person's contributions or the organization's contributions help the mission [of the nonprofit group] that they're working with. How did they impact the nonprofit that they're affiliated with?" Mootz said.
