All Lakeway charter amendments approved

According to unofficial results, Lakeway voters approved all 12 city charter amendments.
"The people of Lakeway trust the process," Mayor Dave DeOme said. "An independent charter review commission drafted these amendments and the people voted in favor of them. I appreciate that these charter amendments will make for better government in Lakeway."
74.18 percent, or 3,488 voters, approved Proposition 1, with 25.82 percent, or 1,214 voters, opposed.
82.31 percent, or 3,488 voters, approved Proposition 2, with 17.69 percent, or 798 voters, opposed.
57.80 percent, or 2,578 voters, approved Proposition 3, with 42.20 percent, or 1,882 voters, opposed.
78.68 percent, or 3,468 voters, approved Proposition 4, with 21.32 percent, or 940 voters, opposed.
87.34 percent, or 3,871 voters, approved Proposition 5, with 12.66 percent, or 561 voters, opposed.
81.56 percent, or 3,473 voters, approved Proposition 6, with 18.44 percent, or 785 voters, opposed.
83.92 percent, or 3,559 voters, approved Proposition 7, with 16.08 percent, or 682 voters, opposed.
87.08 percent, or 3,699 voters, approved Proposition 8, with 12.92 percent, or 549 voters, opposed.
85.22 percent, or 3,696 voters, approved Proposition 9, with 14.78 percent, or 641 voters, opposed.
83.24 percent, or 3,645 voters, approved Proposition 10, with 16.76 percent, or 734 voters, opposed.
86.70 percent, or 3,806 voters, approved Proposition 11, with 13.30 percent, or 584 voters, opposed.
66.32 percent, or 3,001 voters, approved Proposition 12, with 33.68 percent, or 1,524 voters, opposed.

According to early voting results, 75.26 percent, or 2,284 voters, are in favor of Proposition 1 of the city of Lakeway's charter amendment, which would increase the terms for mayor and City Council members from two years to three years. Early results show 24.74 percent, or 751 voters, do not support this proposition.
Early results on the remaining propositions are as follows:
83.42 percent, or 2,440 voters, support Proposition 2, which would require mayoral and City Council candidates to have resided in the city for at least a year before an election. 16.58 percent, or 485 voters, do not support this proposition.
58.36 percent, or 1,692 voters, support Proposition 3, which would remove the requirement that City Council candidates and office holders must not be in financial arrears with the city. 41.64 percent, or 1,207 voters, do not support this proposition.
79.39 percent, or 2,273 voters, support Proposition 4, which would mandate that any partial term of a City Council member who filled a vacancy on City Council by election will count as a full term for that council member. 20.61 percent, or 590 voters, do not support this proposition.
87.93 percent, or 2,527 voters, support Proposition 5, which would allow publication of the city's public notices both on the city website and in a newspaper of general circulation. The proposition also removes a reference to the official newspaper of the city of Lakeway. 12.07 percent, or 347 voters, do not support this proposition.
Propositions 6, 7 and 8, respectively, are concerned with aligning the timelines of voter-initiated ordinances, voter-referred ordinances and recall elections with state law.
82.62 percent, or 2,306 voters, support Proposition 6, and 17.38 percent, or 485 voters, are opposed.
84.90 percent, or 2,361 voters, support Proposition 7, and 15.10 percent, or 420 voters, are opposed.
87.61 percent, or 2,439 voters, support Proposition 8, and 12.39 percent, or 345 voters, are opposed.
85.93 percent, or 2,430 voters, support Proposition 9, which would require members of city boards, commissions and committees be residents of Lakeway. 14.07 percent, or 398 voters, do not support this proposition.
83.96 percent, or 2,393 voters, support Proposition 10, which would ratify the existence and authority of the city's board of ethics. 16.04 percent, or 457 voters, do not support this proposition.
87.51 percent, or 2,502 voters, support Proposition 11, which would ratify the establishment of a Code of Ethics for the city. 12.49 percent, or 357 voters, do not support this proposition.
66.30 percent, or 1,948 voters, support Proposition 12, which would delete all gender-specific wording from Lakeway's city charter. 33.70 percent, or 990 voters, do not support this proposition.
