The New Braunfels ISD board of trustees voted to name Laurelyn Arterbury as the lone finalist for superintendent of schools during a special meeting April 26.

Arterbury currently serves as chief of staff for Leander Independent School District.

"It is an honor and a privilege to be selected as the next leader of New Braunfels ISD," Arterbury said in a press release. "I am excited to learn more about the history of our district

and to hear the hopes and dreams of NBISD moving forward. Together, we can create a district that is second to none in academic achievement, student and staff well-being, and community engagement."

NBISD Board President Eric Bergquist said he and the board were happy to welcome Arterbury and her family to New Braunfels.

“She surpassed all of our expectations, and we have no doubt she will be a great leader for this growing community. She upholds our beliefs and will lead us to the next level," Bergquist said.

Although the board has a waiting period of 21-days before voting for final approval of the superintendent contract, Arterbury's anticipated start date is May 30. A meet-and-greet reception will be held May 4 at 6 p.m. at the NBISD boardroom, located at 1000 N. Walnut Ave.
