New Braunfels Utilities is on track to completing its FM 1044 Elevated Storage Tank project in December.
The update
During the week of April 27, the top of the tank was successfully hoisted into place at the top of the structure. Construction on the $16 million water infrastructure project, which is located at 1637 FM 1044, began in March 2025.
The project is funded through NBU’s water infrastructure capital budget, according to an email from NBU Senior Communications Specialist Charlcee Cervantez.
About the project
The 2 million gallon elevated storage tank will help maintain water pressure for NBU customers in the Morningside Pressure Zone, which includes the following neighborhoods:

It also adds stored water that can be used during emergencies or unexpected outages. The FM 1044 Elevated Storage Tank will also feature a New Braunfels Dragons logo, making it the first "Dragon" water tower in the community, adding a local point of pride to a project that supports reliable service, the email states.
