The city of New Braunfels announced the closure of all city parks from 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 9, to 8 a.m. on Monday, April 13.

A press release from the city sent Friday evening, April 3, states that the golf course, Das Rec, the Library, the Westside Community Center, all river parks, playgrounds, bathrooms and ball fields will remain closed and programming will be suspended until further notice.

Residents are asked by the city to enjoy the holiday weekend at home with family while following the CDC's coronavirus guidelines.

Stay-at-home orders have been issued by the city of New Braunfels, Comal County and the state of Texas and are in effect, or are imminent in the county's case.

When the parks reopen on April 13, only activities that allow for social distancing will be permitted, such as walking, hiking and biking.
