Commercial real estate firm St. John Properties announced Sept. 5 that the company will break ground on a new office building situated in Leander’s Northline development in spring 2024.
“The presence of move-in ready office spaces in Leander positions us to be a more attractive destination for new businesses,” Leander Director of Economic Development Randall Malik said in the Sept. 5 news release.

Spanning 120,000 feet, the new space is considered to be Leander’s first Class A office building.
"Class A buildings are best in class, including finishes, amenities and management services,” said Brooke Harlander, a regional partner at St. John Properties, in an email to Community Impact.
The ground floor of the four-story building is designated for retail and restaurant space, while small businesses, such as law firms, tech companies and business consultants, are anticipated to occupy the other three floors located above the ground level. Suites in the building will start at 2,000 square feet.
Work on the new office space is anticipated to wrap up in the first half of 2025. The official address of the building is 1157 Main St., Leander. The building does not yet have an official name, Harlander said.
Construction on this new space will mark a “major milestone” for Northline as it is the first commercial part of the development to break ground, according to the release.
“We’re in the process of creating a downtown mixed-use environment, and the addition of this building is the first big step in diversifying and enhancing commercial space at Northline,” Northline founder and developer Alex Tynberg said in the release.

Northline is a 116-acre urban mixed-use project aimed to be Leander's new downtown district. The mixed-use center will be a walkable hub with retail, office, health care, public space and residential offerings.
A groundbreaking ceremony for Northline was held in 2020, which was followed by the start of vertical construction on the development in 2022.
Construction on multifamily units and townhome developments in Northline is underway.
