From an art studio to fitness and recreation facilities to a beer bar and eatery, here are 15 Leander-area business that are now open, coming soon or have recently closed.

1. The Spinning Wheel ATX

The craft studio offers more than 80 arts and crafts activities using recycled materials. The business provides customized workshops for individuals and groups, corporate events, and birthday parties for all ages. Owner Rakhi Mutreja said the 2,500-square-foot studio is split into separate work areas, including a pottery section and an outdoor space.

2. Wink Optical and Eye Care

Owned and operated by Dr. Riddhi Gohel, the business provides comprehensive eye exams, dry eye valuation and treatment, contact lens fitting, prescription glasses, LASIK consultations and emergency visits for urgent eye issues. In addition to accepting all major insurances, Wink offers a concierge care program for private pay customers.

3. Soccer Pups



The indoor soccer training facility for children offers soccer classes, an academy, training, youth soccer leagues and private birthday parties. The programs aim to progress alongside a child’s development, from learning basic motor skills to training for club-level competition, Soccer Pups founder Noel Rubert said.

4. The Little Gym of Cedar Park

A gym geared toward children between the ages of 4 months and 12 years opened in Cedar Park in October. The Little Gym of Cedar Park offers classes, such as gymnastics, dance, sports skills and karate. This marks the third gym in the Austin area.

5. Salons by JC

The salon suite company offers customers a variety of beauty and wellness services, such as haircuts and coloring, natural hair care, nails, waxing, massages, tattoos, lashes, and more. Salon professionals renting suites will receive assistance building their brand as well as a client base from the full-time concierge manager while working in the salon.

6. Results Physiotherapy

The physical therapy business provides services, including manual therapy and dry needling, to help patients with chronic pain or recovering from an injury. With locations in several states and throughout the Austin area, the Leander clinic is directed by Keith Yerkes.

7. Texas Original



The Austin-based medical cannabis company opened its fourth location in Central Texas to serve as a prescription pickup location in Cedar Park. Texas Original provides Texas-grown medical cannabis to its clients throughout the state and offers one-on-one customer service to its patients.

8. True Test Leander

The health and wellness provider specializes in testosterone and hormone replacement therapy, medical weight loss, IV vitamin therapy, and nutritional supplements. The business offers free consultations to help create personalized treatment plans. Owned by Tyler and Cara Parsons, this is the first True Test store in Texas. It joins four others across the nation.

9. Scheels

A 240,000-square-foot, employee-owned sporting goods store will be built in the upcoming CedarView development near the H-E-B Center. In addition to 75 specialty shops inside, the location will offer family-friendly activities, such as a 65-foot Ferris wheel, a 16,000-gallon saltwater aquarium stocked with 600 fish, a wildlife mountain and an interactive arcade. There will also be a Fuzziwig's Candy Shop along with Gina's Cafe—which serves soups, sandwiches, homemade fudge and various coffees.

10. The Brass Tap



The craft beer bar and eatery will serve draft beers, offering a mix of local, regional and international brews. The food menu includes shareables, wings, pizza, burgers, tacos, salads and vegetarian options. The franchisee, Ridham Bhatt, co-owns three other Brass Tap locations in Richardson, Rockwall and Sachse.

11. Hyundai Leander

Penske Automotive Group broke ground on the new car dealership Oct. 19. The 7-acre dealership is expected to have more than 70 employees and 400 parking spaces for new and used vehicles.

12. Unity Rec Center

Amir Maknojia will open a new sports recreation center next year with several sports amenities, such as pickleball courts, volleyball courts, basketball courts and more.

13. Jamba and Auntie Anne’s Pretzels

A dual-brand location owned by Bradley Davis and Amanda Lorimer will offer smoothies, various pretzels, pretzel nuggets and pretzel dogs. This marks the second location in the area, with another at 401 W. Whitestone Blvd., Cedar Park.

14. The UPS Store



The business will offer notary, fax, printing, passport photo, document shredding and shipping services.

15. The Truth Family Fitness and Sports Performance

The gym closed its location at The Crossover. According to its website, the business is looking to relocate to a larger space in the Cedar Park and Leander area. The Truth offered personal training, free weights, strength training equipment, group classes, dry saunas, and on-site chiropractors and massage therapists.
