What we reported: The city of Cedar Park has been moving forward with plans to realign about 1 mile of US 183, or Bell Boulevard, which will make space for a mixed-use center with a possible mix of residential, retail, restaurant and park amenities. Cedar Park City Council received updates on the roadway project and future development in 2017, and members of the public were invited to a public workshop on the Bell project in November.

The latest: Cedar Park residents and business owners were invited to take a survey and participate in activities during the November workshop to help the city gauge the direction it should take for the character and identity of the future mixed-use district. For example, participants could place yellow dot stickers on a large poster on images of pedestrian areas they liked and red dots on images they did not like. The online city survey soliciting feedback on the project was available until the beginning of December.

What’s next: The realignment of Bell will remain under design in 2018, and city leaders will continue to evaluate community wants and needs for the future mixed-use development. The city hopes to select a development partner for the section of the project deemed the “catalyst,” which runs from north of Buttercup Creek Boulevard to around Park Street, at the end of 2018.
