Eanes ISD could explore multimillion-dollar transformative 2027 bond
The Eanes ISD community could see a transformative bond on the ballot in May 2027, with dollars going toward each campus.
Members of EISD's Long-Range Facility Planning Committee presented a list of recommended projects at each campus last May. The recommendations included moving to a four-elementary school model by closing and repurposing Eanes Elementary as a central hub for the early childhood program, modernizing or replacing the other elementary and middle school campuses, and major work at Westlake High School.
According to Chief Financial Officer Chris Scott, the full package of the LRFPC's recommendations would be around $900 million, which would include $800 million for construction costs and $100 million for the maintenance and operations portion.
Scott said this spring, the board will establish project priorities while taking the LRFPC recommendations into account and convert the Bond Oversight Committee into a Bond Advisory Committee. The board would then receive the BAC's recommendations in December and revise the package as needed before calling for an election in January and holding the election in May.

Lake Travis ISD's second high school to be named Highland Lakes High School
The Lake Travis ISD board of trustees voted Feb. 18 to name the district's upcoming second high school Highland Lakes High School, with its official school colors being dark green, blue and white.
The school is slated to open for the 2029-30 school year per the latest available construction update, a year later than initially projected.
Per agenda documents, the district received more than 1,950 responses to in a community survey about the name selection between Dec. 3-Jan. 12.
Administration's next steps for Highland Lakes High School will include attendance rezoning; naming a mascot and selecting a logo, which will be student-led and take place after attendance rezoning; and splitting staff and equipment between the new school and Lake Travis High School.

Eanes, Lake Travis ISDs vote against implementing period of prayer resolution
The Eanes ISD and Lake Travis ISD board of trustees voted against implementing a Senate Bill 11 resolution that authorizes districts to establish a voluntary period of prayer and reading of the Bible or other religious texts during the school day.
State lawmakers passed SB 11 during the 2025 legislative session. LTISD General Counsel Chad Crowson said that the law designates a daily period of prayer and reading of religious texts; requires written consent to participate, including a parent waiver; and has certain safeguards in place, such as not taking place during instructional time, and that nonparticipants cannot be within hearing range.
