The Eanes Education Foundation, a nonprofit organization devoted to funding teacher positions within Eanes ISD, presented a $206,000 donation to the district during a Jan. 26 board of trustees meeting.

The donations were made through the EEF’s 10 for 10 fund for the 2020-21 school year, which set aside 10% of all teacher fund donations to finance 10 permanent full-time substitute teachers.

The permanent positions will serve as a relief to the district amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

“We thought it was very important especially with teachers popping in and out because of quarantines,” EEF Executive Director Dana Meserole DeLorenzo said.

The organization is still in the process of collecting donations for the teacher positions for the upcoming school year, an effort in part made possible by EEF’s annual gala.

The EEF gala will be held April 24 outdoors at the Omni Barton Creek Resort’s pavilion. Testing for COVID-19 will be provided and required for all attendees, and the EEF will adhere to Travis County protocols at the time of the event, according to a statement on the EEF’s website.
