The Caseys discovered their passion for breakfast food and feeding others while Bakaffa was stationed in Europe in 2015.
“We traveled to Brussels numerous times,” Crystal said. “During our visits, we fell in love with the variety of authentic Belgian waffles and how delicious and unique they are.”
During this time, Crystal would support Bakaffa’s Army unit by hosting food fundraisers while mastering her fried chicken recipe.
“We saw major success and really started to think about how we could expand,” Crystal said.
For the next few years, Crystal spent her free time crafting Southern comfort and breakfast dishes.
While living in the Greater Seattle area, the Caseys opened their first food truck in June 2019. They named it Munch Munch Waffles & More, after their daughter, Kennedy.
“We called her Munch Munch because she loves to snack,” Bakaffa said.
Committing to their love for food and the family’s dream, Bakaffa retired after 20 years in the Army, and Crystal ended her 15-year pharmaceutical sales career. They moved to Georgetown in August 2021.
“We love this area,” Crystal said. “We not only think it will be good for our business but also for our daughter as she grows up.”
Munch Munch Waffles & More serves both sweet and savory breakfast and lunch options on three different types of waffles: Brussels, liege and cornbread.
Entrees range from $12-$16 and have a variety of toppings and sauces.
“[Crystal] is the mastermind behind the whole thing,” Bakaffa said. The Caseys still operate a food truck for catering and event service.
“From pop-ups to a food truck, and now our first brick-and-mortar location, our focus is to bring high-quality sweet and savory waffle creations to our community,” Crystal said.
