Cities approve new storage facilities Following two meetings of Lakeway City Council, this storage facility was approved.[/caption]

Bee Cave and Lakeway have each approved the construction of new storage facilities in May.

Bee Cave City Council granted Bee Cave Self-Storage, 15110 W. Hwy. 71, Bee Cave, a special use permit May 9 for two self-storage buildings totalling 107,995 square feet proposed on a 4-acre commercial site as well as a caretaker’s apartment. However, council required the developer—The Jenkins Organization—to post fiscal security in the amount of $273,501 to fund its pollution-control plan.

Following the passage of a narrowly defined special-use exception allowing storage facilities in a C-1, or commercial real estate, zoning category that includes retail sites, Lakeway City Council greenlighted developer Tom DeCicco’s indoor storage facility May 16. The project located at 2111 Lohmans Crossing Road, Lakeway, will encompass 78,000 square feet on 2.5 acres, and the developer agreed to revitalize a nearby property he owns as well as add green space for the city.
