After more than a decade, the Austin Texas Bike Polo Social Club has an official court to play on.

The city of Austin celebrated the opening of the Metz Park Multi-Use Bike Polo Court on July 21. The court, located at 2407 Canterbury St., Austin, is the first bike polo court in Austin. The sport is similar to traditional polo, but played on bikes.

The court was installed by the city through the Austin Parks and Recreation Department in partnership with the ATXBPSC through the Neighborhood Partnering Program.

The ATXBPSC began working on a proposal for the plan in 2015, according to the city. Since 2009, the club played at Metz Park by setting up a temporary wooden boards around the perimeter each time. The proposal was finalized in 2020 and awarded in August of that year. Construction began in February 2023.

The ATXBPSC will work with the city to provide mix of funds, donated bikes and polo equipment for public use. Members will also assist in regular court maintenance and cleanups, conduct park and trail cleanups, and offer bike polo lessons.

The court can also be used for tennis.
