March 2022 was Austin-Bergstrom International Airport’s busiest month on record, according to an April 26 press release from the City of Austin.

Nearly 2 million passengers flew to or from the airport during the month— a 146% increase in traffic from March 2021.

About 700,000 of ABIA’s passengers traveled with Southwest Airlines, marking a roughly 175% increase from this time last year. The next highest trafficked airline was American Airlines, with about 480,000 passengers and a roughly 225% increase from last year, and Delta Air Lines was up almost 120% with about 215,000 passengers.

Air cargo traffic also increased to roughly 28 million pounds almost 50% higher than March 2021, according to the release. International air cargo amounted to over 1 million pounds, up more than 4000% compared to last year.
