Thousands of people gathered at the south lawn of the Texas State Capitol on Saturday for the Women's March on ATX. Event organizers said the mission of the march, scheduled the day after the presidential inauguration, was to stand in solidarity for the protection of women’s rights. The march was meant to represent the voices of all individuals who believe women’s rights are human rights. According to the event’s website, "defending the most marginalized among us means defending all of us.” The Austin event is thought to be the largest Women's March that took place in Texas during the weekend.
