Cedar Pointe Baptist Church is commemorating 10 years of serving the Cedar Park community in April. To celebrate, the church will host a guest preacher in late April, followed by a lunch after the service.
The overview
“People come to Cedar Park from all over the world for great places to live and work,” pastor Benjamin Wright said. “People from five continents and twelve countries gather on Sundays with Cedar Pointe. We’re amazed at what God has done as we preach the good news about Jesus Christ.”
The church hosts service at 10:30 a.m. and Sunday school before service at 9:30 a.m. weekly at the Cedar Park Recreation Center.
Cedar Pointe was first established in 2016 after members of High Pointe Baptist Church in Austin spent Sundays commuting into the city from the Cedar Park and Leander areas.
High Pointe Baptist Church sent members out to establish roots in Cedar Park, where it held services wherever they could fit—in a house, a hotel, another church's facility, an outdoor worm farm, but predominantly at the Cedar Park Recreation Center.
The celebration
Juan Sanchez, pastor at High Pointe Baptist in Austin, will be the guest preacher on April 26, where he will teach a lesson to the adult Sunday school group on “Reaching Your Child's Heart: A Practical Guide to Faithful Parenting.”
The group will then gather for lunch after the service, with time to express gratitude and reflect on the past 10 years at Cedar Pointe Baptist Church.

The Cedar Park Recreation Center staff has helped support the church throughout the last decade, Wright said.
“We want the city to know how well their [Recreation] Center staff cares for all the different types of groups who use city facilities."
