On May 1, Leander voters will elect its mayor and three City Council members for each seat's next three-year term.

Leander City Council officially called the election Jan. 21. Williamson County will host the election.

The mayoral seat and Places 2, 4 and 6, all of which are elected at-large, will be on the May 1 ballot. Applications for the seats opened Jan. 13 and will close Feb. 12 at 5 p.m. Candidate information is available on the Leander city website.

As of Jan. 21, Council Member Annette Sponseller has applied to run for Place 2, and Donnie Mahan has applied to run for Place 4, according to the city website. Sponseller was appointed to council in October to fill the vacated Place 2 seat.

Early voting begins April 19. City Council approved an ordinance in December to move the Leander early voting location from Pat Bryson Municipal Hall to the Leander Public Library annex to minimize time conflicts.
