There are several community events in Cedar Park and Leander in July and August, including a dog paw-ty, National Night Out and concerts. Additionally, both the Cedar Park and Leander public libraries are hosting free events for guests of all ages.

July 14: Network with business owners

Networking Local will host a mingle-style happy hour event for Cedar Park and Leander business owners. July 15: See Dylan Wheeler live


Singer-songwriter Dylan Wheeler is on tour and will be making a stop at Wild West Cedar Park. Wheeler’s music blends rock, country and alternative styles. July 16: Go to a paw-ty

Locals can cool off at an off-leash doggy splash party featuring a dog swimsuit contest, treats and adoptable dogs. All proceeds will be donated to Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter. July 23: Groove the night away


The “One Nation Under A Groove” tour is coming to the Haute Spot with headlining performances by George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic. July 30: Embrace the sunset

The Austin Steam Train Association’s Sunset Express will take riders on a 44-mile evening journey through Texas Hill Country, across the South San Gabriel River to the historic 1912 Bertram Depot. Both adult-only and family-friendly cars will be available, and passengers can purchase beer and wine. Personal alcoholic beverages are prohibited. Aug. 7: Listen to ’90s R&B


Austin’s R&B Summer Jam presented by Motor City Entertainment will be at the H-E-B Center in Cedar Park. Grammy-nominated R&B group Jagged Edge will be the concert’s headliner. July 12: Gain gardening skills

The A&M Agrilife Extension Office and Williamson County Master Gardeners will host the Green Thumbs Up Gardening event series at the library. This month’s topic will be focused on succulent plants. Attendees will be able to learn about the plants as well as tools and techniques to use. 7 p.m. Free

July 23: Enjoy a park picnic

The city of Cedar Park will be having a picnic at Brushy Creek Lake Park as a part of its Summer Reading Club Program. Attendees can bring their own picnic lunch and join the event at the Cedar and Cypress pavilions. There will be crafts and free snacks. July 23: Watch a movie on the lawn

Catch an interactive screening of “Monty Python and the Holy Grail.” Staff are encouraging attendees to bring their own blankets, folding chairs, snacks and water.
